The Australian Hockey League (AIHL) has partnered with Sportradar, a global leader in sports data. Through this collaboration, Sportradar will manage the dissemination of AIHL data and broadcasts internationally (excluding Australia and New Zealand) through 2024.

Under the agreement, Sportradar will furnish the AIHL with an array of technological solutions. A notable inclusion is “Connected Stadium,” a capability that will automate the recording of live game footage, enhancing the quality of video content. The AIHL anticipates leveraging this technology to elevate the fan experience during matches. “Connected Stadium” is slated for implementation in a minimum of six AIHL venues by 2024, including Melbourne’s renowned O’Brien Icehouse.

Furthermore, the AIHL will gain access to Sportradar’s worldwide wagering monitoring and match manipulation identification system, designated as the Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS).

This alliance augments Sportradar’s already substantial ice hockey portfolio. Their existing collaborations encompass 10 leagues globally, featuring prominent names such as the NHL and AHL in North America and the Champions Hockey League in Europe.

David Edwards, Director of Sports Media and Sports Partnerships at Sportradar, conveyed his excitement regarding the partnership.

This innovative technology is poised to revolutionize the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL). It has the potential to significantly increase viewership and generate excitement for the sport throughout Australia and internationally.

“This presents an exceptional chance to demonstrate how our specialized knowledge and advanced technology can benefit sports entities and leagues within this geographic area.”

AIHL Chairman, Peter Hartshorne, further stated:

“To facilitate the growth of the AIHL and accommodate the addition of two new teams over the next three years, we require a superior technological solution capable of maximizing the league’s commercial prospects.

“Sportradar possesses a demonstrated history of successful collaborations with prominent figures in the global sports arena, and we are optimistic that this partnership will yield exceptional outcomes.”
