The Bristol Rovers Football Club has pledged its backing to a responsible gaming endeavor known as “Off the Pitch.” This project, spearheaded by the Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, seeks to heighten awareness regarding responsible gaming resources accessible in the Southwest region. Initiated last year, the campaign aims to dismantle the stigma associated with problematic gaming and motivate individuals to pursue assistance. The program provides a variety of support services, encompassing therapy sessions, group workshops, and online consultations. Chris Gilmore, a clinical director for the program, underscored the detrimental consequences problematic gaming can inflict upon individuals and their personal connections. He emphasized the program’s dedication to safeguarding individuals from the adverse impacts of gambling. This action by Bristol Rovers aligns with other recent instances of social responsibility initiatives within the football realm. Middlesbrough FC’s financial backer, Kindred Group, relinquished their promotional space to the MFC Foundation during a game. Likewise, Sky Bet and the EFL have also been actively engaged in advocating for responsible gaming through the EFL Construction Fund.
