The gaming and leisure corporation, Churchill Downs Incorporated, is broadening its reach in the Northeast. The company recently purchased Chasers Poker Room, located in Salem, New Hampshire.
Chasers, a well-known card room situated near Boston, provides poker and other tabletop games. Churchill Downs intends to construct a significantly larger gaming complex on the site, accommodating up to 800 gaming machines. This new establishment will feature historical horse racing alongside table games.
The projected cost for this expansion is approximately $150 million. Bill Carstanjen, the CEO of Churchill Downs, conveyed his enthusiasm for the undertaking, stating that the company aims to capitalize on Chasers’ achievements. He also highlighted the company’s dedication to assisting charitable institutions in New Hampshire.
This venture will mark Churchill Downs’ entry into a fourth state offering historical horse racing, joining its current operations in Kentucky and Louisiana. The company is also preparing to introduce historical horse racing in Virginia upon the completion of its acquisition of Peninsula Pacific Entertainment.
The famed home of the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs, is experiencing a prosperous period. Their diverse portfolio, encompassing horse racing, online wagering, and gaming ventures, is flourishing. Recently, they declared record-breaking second-quarter earnings exceeding $500 million, a substantial surge from the previous year.
