American Gaming Systems (AGS) applauds a current Supreme Court judgment permitting bingo on Texas tribal territories.
This week, the highest court affirmed the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo and Alabama and Coushatta Tribe’s autonomy to regulate and provide any games not explicitly forbidden on their sovereign lands.
Consequently, Texas cannot impose its regulations, including those governing electronic bingo, on these tribes.
Texas boasts some of the nation’s most stringent gambling regulations, yet bingo establishments are permitted. These tribes have consistently asserted their adherence to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), a claim disputed by Texas.
The Supreme Court ultimately ruled in favor of the tribes, a decision lauded by AGS. CEO David Lopez hailed the ruling as a triumph for tribal self-governance.
“Following a protracted legal battle, I extend my sincere congratulations to our Native American business associates and allies on this well-earned win,” remarked Lopez.
“This judgment empowers these sovereign nations with economic autonomy and upholds their rights as federally recognized tribes.”
AGS produces and designs a diverse range of products for land-based businesses, encompassing tribal gaming entities.
Lopez continued, “American Gaming Solutions supports our tribal allies in Texas and hopes they prosper in their present and coming ventures as a self-governing people.
“We are honored to stand behind all our Native American partners nationwide, particularly these tribes who have struggled for so long for financial independence.”
