The UK National Lottery’s administrator, Camelot, has pledged its support for British athletes traveling to Tokyo by financing essential COVID-19 safety protocols. Through this collaboration, Camelot assumes the roles of both an official ParalympicsGB partner and a dedicated Team GB supporter.
Camelot’s financial contribution will be pivotal in guaranteeing the well-being of both Olympic and Paralympic athletes before and throughout the Games. This investment will encompass a variety of COVID-19 mitigation strategies for both teams. Team GB will have access to cutting-edge hygiene technology and testing initiatives. ParalympicsGB will specifically gain from lateral flow testing and COVID-secure transportation options.
Camelot CEO, Nigel Railton, conveyed his sense of pride in supporting the athletes, acknowledging the difficult circumstances the UK has encountered. The funding will also facilitate a “Daily Wellness” initiative centered on staff well-being. Railton views this as a chance to not only bolster the athletes but also to motivate his own workforce to achieve peak performance.
British Olympic Association CEO, Andy Anson, highlighted the significance of Camelot’s well-timed assistance, stating that it will be vital in upholding a world-class setting for athletes in Tokyo.
Mike Sharrock, the big cheese at the British Paralympic Association, confessed that COVID really knocked them off their stride, much like it did for the rest of the world. However, he’s enthusiastic about teaming up with Camelot (they handle the lottery, yeah?). This collaboration means our Paralympic athletes will be prepping and vying for victory in first-rate facilities, providing them the optimal opportunity to secure gold this summer. Let’s go Team GB!
