The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued its initial blocking directives against seven gambling affiliate websites.
The organization has directed Australian internet service providers (ISPs) to prohibit access to Aussie Casino Hex, Australia OK Casinos, Aussie Online Pokies, Pokies, Australian Casino Club, Australian Gambling, and True Blue Casinos.
The ACMA stated these websites have been posing as impartial reviewers of gambling services, adding that blocking them is a top priority because they provide direct links to unlawful gambling services and frequently receive payments for driving traffic.
“These marketing websites can guide you toward illegal gambling services that lack the safeguards of licensed and regulated services,” remarked ACMA Chair Fiona Cameron.
“We consistently receive complaints from consumers regarding bonuses not being paid out and incentives and forceful tactics being used to target individuals with gambling problems.”
The agency commenced making blocking requests in November 2019 when it acquired new enforcement capabilities. Since these powers took effect, 279 gambling websites considered to be operating illicitly have been blocked.
Recent instructions released in June have resulted in the blocking of offshore gambling websites run by Kings Chance Service.
Since the ACMA began implementing new regulations against illegal offshore gambling in 2017, around 144 operators have left Australia.
“The ACMA possesses information that can assist you, and is actively targeting illegal gambling websites and their related businesses, forcing them to leave Australia,” Cameron stated.
